Note: You don’t have to revisit this step every time you meditate, but as your healing journey progresses, it doesn’t hurt to reflect on your intention and commitment when you feel called to. This can be a grounding reminder of why you started and how far you’ve come. Step 2: Create a Calm and Comfortable Space Find a quiet space where you can sit or lie down comfortably without distractions. You don’t need anything elaborate - just a space where you feel safe and at ease. You can sit cross-legged on the floor, on a cushion, in a chair with your feet flat on the ground, or lie down. If you prefer, dim the lights, light a candle, or play soft ambient music or frequencies to set a calming atmosphere. If you choose to lie down for meditation, keep in mind that your body is naturally programmed to fall asleep in this position. To stay engaged, it’s best to select a spot where you don’t normally sleep. As you progress in your healing journey, you can explore tools like cushions, blankets, or backrests to enhance your comfort and practices, but these aren’t necessary to start. Note: Once you’ve chosen your meditation spot, you don’t need to revisit this step each time. Designating a consistent space for your practice can be incredibly beneficial. There’s nothing like sitting down to meditate only to spend the next 20 minutes fiddling with your meditation file - prepare ahead so you can start your session with ease and focus! What to Do When Your Mind Wanders: Before we continue with the other steps, let's address a topic that everyone inevitably deals with during meditation: wandering thoughts. This happens to everyone, regardless of whether you’re using a guided audio or meditating on your own, and it’s also one of the most common reasons people stop committing to themselves. It’s important to understand that wandering thoughts are completely normal, especially as a beginner. When you notice this happening, don’t judge yourself or become frustrated. This is not a failure - it’s a normal part of training your mind. Instead, gently bring your focus back to your breath, your heart, and/or the emotion you're cultivating. Think of your mind like a puppy learning to follow commands. When it strays, you don’t spank it; you lovingly and patiently guide it back. Each redirection strengthens your ability to focus and deepen your practice. Step 4: Begin with Your Breath If you are using a guided meditation: simply follow the instructions provided by the audio - it will guide you through the entire meditation from start to finish, making it easy to stay focused and aligned with the practice. If you’re meditating without a guided audio: start your meditation session by closing your eyes and gently turning your attention to your breath. Breathe slowly and deeply, in through your nose and out through your mouth. Let your breathing settle into a natural rhythm, and allow yourself to relax into this flow. Deep, intentional breathing is essential to begin calming the mind and body, creating a gateway for coherence. As you breathe, begin to focus on the area of your heart, imagining your breath flowing in and out of this center. Allow the black space of the quantum field to surround you, like a vast and infinite void of possibilities. Picture this space holding endless potential, and as you continue breathing, feel yourself becoming part of it - connected, calm, and expansive. This visualization helps anchor your focus and opens you to the transformative energy of coherence. Step 5: Cultivate Elevated Emotions Once you feel grounded in your breath, shift your focus to cultivating an elevated emotion such as gratitude, love, joy, and/or appreciation. These high-vibrational emotions are key to creating coherence between your heart and brain. Allow yourself to fully embody the chosen emotion, feeling it deeply and authentically. You can open your heart by visualizing a memory or imagining a situation that evokes this emotion. For instance, if you’re focusing on gratitude, recall a moment in your life that fills you with appreciation and relive it in vivid detail, letting the warmth and joy of that experience expand within you. Step 6: Connect Emotion to Intention This is the most important step. As you maintain your elevated emotional state, bring your focus to an intention or desired outcome. This could be a feeling you want to cultivate in your life, such as peace or abundance, or a specific goal you wish to achieve/manifest. Visualize this intention as if it’s already happening, allowing the emotion and the thought to merge. Imagine your heart radiating this energy outward, creating a coherent and powerful field that connects your body, mind, and the world around you. Note: This step is the essence of coherence meditation. Bringing up the thought and emotion simultaneously is what creates coherence.
